Who we are

StillUseful (a Nissi Homes project) runs StillUseful from Unit 4, Heath Mill Lane, Birmingham, B9 4AE. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us at hello@stilluseful.org.

What we collect

Donation details: your name, contact details, collection address and descriptions or photos of the items you offer.

Request details: your name, contact details, the items you ask for, and — for Tier 2 items — the proof document you upload.

Referral details: where a support worker refers you, the information they provide about your situation.

Business enquiries: company name, contact name, work email, phone and site address.

Technical data: pages viewed and basic device information collected through analytics, in aggregate.

Why we use it

To arrange collections, drop-offs and deliveries, to check eligibility fairly, to keep you updated on your donation or request, and to report anonymised impact figures to funders and partners.

Our lawful bases are legitimate interests (running the service), consent (where you opt in to updates), and legal obligation (safeguarding and financial records).

Proof documents and sensitive information

Eligibility proofs are stored in private, access-controlled storage. Only trained staff reviewing your request can open them, every access is logged, and they are deleted once your request is closed.

Anonymous nominations (Quietly)

If someone nominates you through Quietly, we never tell you who nominated them, and we never tell the nominator what you decided or received. Nominations that are not taken forward are deleted.

Who we share it with

Referral partners you have asked us to work with, delivery and postal providers where needed to move an item, and our hosting and email providers acting on our instructions. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

Donation and request records are kept for two years for safeguarding and funder reporting. Eligibility proofs are deleted when the request closes. Marketing contacts are removed as soon as you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@stilluseful.org. We respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to count page visits and understand which pages help people. Analytics only loads when a measurement ID is configured, and we do not use advertising cookies.
