Terms of service

Last updated 12 August 2026

The terms that apply when you donate an item, request an item, or arrange a business collection with StillUseful.

1. Who we are

StillUseful (a Nissi Homes project) operates this website and the reuse service described on it, from Unit 4, Heath Mill Lane, Birmingham, B9 4AE. You can reach us at hello@stilluseful.org or +44 121 000 0000.

By using this website — donating, requesting, nominating or registering as a partner — you agree to these terms.

2. Donating items

When you offer an item you confirm that it is yours to give, that it is not subject to a safety recall, and that you have described its condition honestly.

We may decline any item. Common reasons are missing fire-safety labels on upholstered furniture, unsafe electrics, damage beyond economic repair, or contamination.

Ownership of an item transfers to StillUseful when we collect or receive it. Items we cannot rehome are recycled responsibly rather than returned.

3. Requesting items

Requests are subject to availability and to the eligibility tier shown on each item. Submitting a request does not reserve an item until we confirm it.

Information you give in a self-declaration or proof upload must be accurate. Items are for your own household and must not be resold.

4. Condition of items and liability

Every item is cleaned, checked and — where mains-powered — electrically tested before being listed, and its condition is described honestly. Items are nevertheless second-hand and supplied as seen.

Because items are provided free or at a nominal contribution, we cannot offer warranties on used goods beyond your non-excludable statutory rights. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

5. Contributions and payments

Most items are free. Where a small contribution towards refurbishment parts applies, the amount is shown before you request the item and is never a condition of receiving help.

6. Business collections

Business collections are arranged by written agreement covering scope, access and timing. Impact receipts state item counts, weight diverted and estimated CO2e, calculated in good faith from our intake records; they are an estimate, not an audited figure.

You remain responsible for removing your own data from devices you require to be destroyed rather than wiped, and for telling us before collection.

7. Quietly nominations

Nominations must be made in good faith and never to expose, embarrass or pressure the household concerned. We will not proceed with an approach we judge unsafe or unwelcome, and we never identify the nominator.

8. Acceptable use

When using this site you agree not to:

  • Submit false information, or impersonate another person or organisation
  • Request items for resale or commercial gain
  • Attempt to access staff, volunteer or partner areas without authorisation
  • Upload malicious files, or interfere with the operation of the site

9. Your account and content

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure. Photos and descriptions you submit may be used to list an item on this site; do not include people or identifying details in donation photos.

10. Privacy

How we handle personal data, proof documents and analytics cookies is set out in our privacy policy.

11. Changes, law and complaints

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

If something goes wrong, tell us at hello@stilluseful.org. We reply to complaints within 2 working days and aim to resolve them within 10.
